Common Questions

Starting a new healing journey often comes with a few questions, both practical and personal. Below, you’ll find helpful guidance on how to prepare for your session, what to expect and how to look after yourself afterwards.

If there’s anything you’re unsure about, please don’t hesitate to get in touch — we’re here to help.

Preparing for Your First Session

We recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing such as yoga wear or soft cotton. This allows easy access to the spine and acupuncture points and ensures you can move freely and comfortably during any movement assessments.

Please avoid eating a heavy meal for at least two hours before your session. At the same time, we recommend not arriving on a completely empty stomach, as this may make you feel light-headed during treatment.

Yes. Staying well hydrated in the 24 hours leading up to your session helps your fascia and tissues respond more effectively to manual therapy.

We recommend avoiding caffeine and intense exercise for at least three hours before your session. In Vietnamese Traditional Medicine, your pulse reflects the flow of energy, and stimulants can temporarily alter readings.

If you have any recent scans, blood tests or medical reports related to your condition, please feel free to bring copies or have them available on your phone. This can help us carry out a more accurate and informed assessment.

It can be helpful to think about when your symptoms tend to feel at their worst and what may trigger them. You might also wish to reflect on what healing means to you — whether that’s less pain, better sleep, greater emotional balance or improved energy.

What to Expect During Your Session

Your first session includes a comprehensive assessment of your posture, structure, and overall wellbeing. The practitioner will gently explore your medical history, lifestyle, movement patterns and any areas of concern to build a full picture of your condition.

This may also include pulse analysis, spinal and nerve assessment, and elements of our Five-Body approach to help understand the underlying causes of imbalance.

Based on this, a personalised Khi Tam Therapy plan will be recommended, tailored to support your individual needs and wellbeing goals.

The first visit is primarily an initial consultation and postural assessment to determine the most suitable Khi Tam Therapy approach for you. The practitioner will evaluate your condition and recommend a personalised treatment plan.

Where appropriate, some introductory techniques may also be included during the session.

Sensations can vary depending on the type of treatment you receive. Some techniques, such as deeper manual work, may feel more intense, especially when working through areas of long-standing tension. Others, such as acupuncture or breath-based techniques, are often experienced as calming and deeply relaxing.

Your practitioner will explain what to expect before starting and will adjust the treatment to suit your comfort level. We encourage open communication throughout the session, so you feel safe, supported and at ease.

After Your Session

Allow your body time to rest and integrate the treatment. We recommend avoiding intense exercise or high-stress activities immediately afterwards and following any personalised aftercare advice provided by your practitioner.

Yes. Staying well hydrated after your Khi Tam Therapy session is recommended. Drinking water helps
support circulation and the body’s natural recovery and integration processes following treatment.
Adequate hydration may also assist the body in adapting more comfortably to postural and
functional adjustments made during the session.

Following your Khi Tam Therapy session, you may notice gradual changes as the body adapts and integrates the therapeutic work. Some clients report improvements in relaxation, sleep quality, body awareness, ease of movement or overall wellbeing within the first 24 to 48 hours.

It is also normal to experience temporary sensations such as mild soreness, fatigue or increased sensitivity as the body adjusts to postural and functional changes. These responses are usually short term and form part of the body’s natural adaptation process.

If you have any concerns after your session, you are always welcome to contact your practitioner for advice and support.

Programmes and Treatment Plans

The number of sessions varies depending on your individual condition, health history, lifestyle factors and personal wellbeing goals. Some clients benefit from a small number of sessions to address specific concerns, while others may require a more structured therapeutic programme to support longer-term postural balance and functional improvement.

A personalised recommendation will be discussed following your initial consultation and assessment to ensure the most appropriate approach for your needs.

Individual treatments are designed to address specific concerns during a single session using an appropriate Khi Tam Therapy modality, such as manual therapy, movement correction or nervous system regulation techniques.

Specialised programmes take a more comprehensive approach by combining multiple therapeutic modalities over a planned period. These programmes are designed to support deeper postural realignment, functional balance and long-term wellbeing by addressing underlying patterns rather than isolated symptoms.

Your practitioner will recommend the most suitable approach based on your assessment findings and personal goals.

No. Programmes are recommended when longer-term structural or nervous system regulation is
needed. You are free to choose the path that feels appropriate for you.
